How much does it cost to hire a sales consultant in Australia?

It depends what you're buying. A fixed-fee review like mine is $1,495. A part-time (fractional) sales or marketing executive is quoted at roughly $4,000 to $25,000 a month. Here's how the main options compare, with published prices where they exist.

In short

It depends what you hire. A fixed-scope review can be a one-off fee (the SalesPath review is $1,495 inc GST). A part-time fractional sales executive is quoted at $10,000–$18,000 a month. Business coaches and marketing agencies usually charge monthly. The table below shows published prices and sources.

What you're actually paying for

Business coach

General business advice and accountability, usually in regular sessions over several months. A coach is useful if you want someone keeping you on track across the whole business. A coach is less useful if you need a specific sales problem found and fixed.

Marketing agency

More traffic and enquiries, through ads, SEO and social media. An agency is worth it when you genuinely need more leads. It won't help much if the enquiries you already get aren't turning into jobs. Some agencies ask for minimum terms of 3–12 months, so check before you sign.

Fractional sales or marketing executive

A senior person working part-time in your business, typically two to four days a week. Fractional roles are mostly used by businesses big enough to need a sales or marketing leader but not ready to hire one full-time.

Sales trainer

Workshops or courses on selling skills for you or your team. Prices vary widely and few trainers publish them. Training is useful when your process is sound and skills are the gap.

Sales consultant

Advice on how your business sells. Pricing ranges from day rates to project fees, and few Australian consultants publish theirs, so you usually only find out after a call.

Why my price is on the website

Most consultants say "it depends" and quote after a call. I'd rather you know before you get in touch.

The Sales Conversion Review is $1,495 inc GST, and it's fixed. You get up to 20 recent enquiries and quotes reviewed, a priority fix list and a 30-day plan, delivered in 7–10 business days.

If you want help putting the fixes in place, the 30-Day Implementation Sprint is $5,995 inc GST. The $1,495 review fee is credited, so continuing costs $4,500.

Three-leak guarantee: if I can't find at least three clear, fixable sales-path leaks, you don't pay for the review.

Questions owners ask

Is a sales consultant worth it for a small business?

It's worth it if the cost is small next to the work you're losing. Count the quotes that went quiet in the last three months and what they were worth. If winning one or two of them would cover the fee, a fixed-fee review is a low-risk way to find out why they went quiet.

Why do sales consultants charge so differently?

Because they're selling different things: a one-off diagnosis, ongoing coaching, training or part-time leadership. Compare what you'll have at the end, not just the price.

Are these prices inc GST?

SalesPath's prices include GST. Other prices are shown as published. Most agencies don't say, and those that do usually exclude GST.

Do you charge by the hour?

No. The review is one fixed fee, so you know the cost before you start.
